Mark D. Ferrier
Mark has practised in property valuation since 1986 and leads Sovereign Valuations’ Victorian practice. He brings extensive experience across commercial, industrial, residential and development property, with a particular depth of expertise in litigation, compulsory acquisition and complex valuation matters.
His professional background includes roles with Valuer-General Victoria and Commonwealth Bank of Australia, alongside a broad practice advising government, financiers, legal professionals and private clients.

Mark is an experienced expert witness who has prepared valuations for proceedings before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the County Court, the Supreme Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. His litigation work includes disputes over building defects, misrepresentation and diminution in value affecting substantial residential, commercial and industrial developments. He has given evidence under cross-examination and participated in valuation conferences, including family law matters involving large property portfolios.
His compulsory acquisition experience includes advising private owners and government on partial acquisitions for road widening and loss on sale of subdivisional land. He has also undertaken valuations for State Government acquisitions and disposals of residential property, commercial assets and development sites.

Mark values commercial and residential development sites and projects for mortgage finance and due diligence. His work includes feasibility and residual land value analysis, Estate Master modelling, gross realisable values, absorption rates and assessment of planning and settlement risks. His commercial experience ranges from strata premises to multi-tenanted office, retail and industrial holdings, including CBD assets and shopping arcades.
He has valued prestige Melbourne residential properties to approximately $30 million for financiers and private clients. His specialised asset experience includes alpine resort holdings, advertising signage, self-storage facilities, childcare centres, cold storage facilities, service stations and medical centres. He also undertakes rental valuations across office, industrial, retail and specialised property, with regard to applicable retail leasing legislation.
